  1. What has your career path been?

 

I started off my career in hospitality, but I soon realised the hours were not very accommodating.  

 

  1. Why Ben’s Gutters?

 

Working at Ben’s Gutters has given me a much better work/life balance.

 

  1. What is your current role like?  What about it makes you want to get up in the morning?

 

I am a collections officer. I love the office environment and the people I work with.

 

  1. What does an average week look like for you?

 

My job role has a mixture of speaking to customers both business and residential to collect payments for our services.

 

I also handle reimbursing staff expenses and arranging payments to our suppliers..

 

  1. What are your career aspirations?

 

I would like to move to a manager/supervisor role for my department.

 

  1. Do you feel like you’re making a difference in your job?

 

Yes, if I am not in the office the amount of collections for the day will drop. I also have extensive knowledge of the business, being here almost seven years I can help with most problems that arise in my department.

 

  1. Are there any expectations you had about this career path that you have found differed from reality, in both a good or bad way?

 

No, when I first started I didn’t have any expectations as I had no previous experience in the office environment.  But I have learned so much from being here.

 

  1. What are the biggest challenges? What are the compromises?

 

Our department has a certain amount of pressure to collect the money we are owed. If we don’t collect the money it affects the company.

 

  1. What skills are the most crucial to succeeding in this career? What type of person do you need to be?

 

You need to be a people person. Be a team player. You also need patience and determination as some customers don’t pay straight away and need chasing.

 

  1. What is the best bit of advice you have for someone looking to interview with Ben’s Gutters?

 

Be willing to learn on the job and get stuck in.

 

  1. Are there any aspects of the job that you wish were different?

 

The parking is not sufficient for the amount of staff, but with our new offices this will soon be rectified.
